    This is the official thread for the digital version of Mage Tower. This first post will always be updated with the newest download link and patch notes. Please post here to report bugs and give feedback and ideas. Thanks guys, have fun! :D

    This is an alpha pre-release version and there will be bugs!! Only try opening the game once, it takes a minute to load up and appear.

    Version 1.0.2.4. Patch Notes

    New Cards:
    (If you missed the last update which was only posted once, chances are you will see many other new cards in this version you haven’t seen before.)
    Trading in the Western Cities – New card that gives 2 gold and 1 card for 3 energy.

    Known Bugs:
    -Trying to Fathom a Crusade causes the game to crash
    -Several cards don’t have their images set up yet, it’s just a white image with oversized text.

    -Doublespell with Energy Burst doesn’t double your card drawing like it should.

    Bug Fixes:
    Sword of Midas – Fixed a bug where the game crashed when you tried to attack an empty monster board with a Defender equipped with Sword of Midas.
    Underthing – Ability works correctly now.
    Rally – Fixed a bug where it wasn’t reducing Knight’s cost.

    Balance Changes:
    Energy Burst – Cost increased to 3 energy.
    Fireball – Base damage increased from 3 to 5.
    Hire Mercenaries – Removed, for now.
    Horde – Damage increased from 21 to 23.
    Lost at Sea – Damage increased from 10 to 12.
    Pact of the Mind-God – Damage after discard increased from 10 to 13.
    Rally – Cost decreased from 3 to 2.
    Lay Siege – Damage increased from 8 to 10.
    Rolling Thunder – Damage per card discarded increased from 3 to 5. Cost increased to 5.
    Wild Hunt – Cost changed from 2 energy to 0 energy.
    Underthing – Changed from a 1/20 or whatever it was to a 2/13.
    Death Ray – Added back into game.
    Crystal Cave – Added back into game.
    Alchemist’s Lab – Cost reduced from 3 energy to 2 energy.
    Ballista – Added back into game and now deals 2 damage to 4 monsters, instead of 1 damage to 4 monsters.
    Blizzard – Added back into the game and now deals 3 damage to the three closest monsters, instead of 2.
    Band of Heroes – Added back into the game.
    Black Market – Removed for now.
    Overpowering Evil – Added back into the game.
    Dark Pact – Added back into the game. Now deals 4 damage to each of three monsters, instead of 3 damage to three monsters.
    Labyrinth – Added back into the game. Cost reduced from 4 energy to 3 energy. Now instead of having 3 damage plus different effects if you have costs of 18/24, it is simplified. The new version deals 3 damage to any monster, then if your other cards’ cost is 23 or more then you shuffle a Summoning prize card into your deck and gain 3 energy.
    Bash – Added back into game.
    Greater Mind Control – Added back into game. Now simply deals 5 arrow damage instead of the stuff about making monsters weaker and attack you. Still has the player-control effect.
    Crusade – Added back in.
    Imposter Knight – Added back in.

    Rising thunder retruns and new version of mage tower? Awesome.

    Anyways some stuff from screwing around:

    Possible Balance:
    If wisp is still in energy burst at 3 is still an infinite combo (only gotten to random mode and just commenting on the change log there).

    I dunno how i never noticed but dear god crusade + golden golem is brutal good (i had headeater and crow too. Annnnd everything needed to ramp into a 30+ point fireball to end the game. Not a bad first draft after coming back)

    Bugs:
    Ballista card text and effect is still 2 damage to 3 closest.

    Playing titan armor in my first random game actually played blackout (next time i drew it, it was blackout)

    Trying to play energy burst was actually titan armor .

    Actually it just sorta sat there as a phantom card and sorta kinda did/didn't exist so I dunno. Sometimes it was a summoning or an archer, but clicking on it to play those never got rid of the card. (got energy burst in draft and it was fine...so yeah?)

    Seems its possible to get enough cards in hand that its very hard to see what you want to play, although that is sorta "i win" moment.

    Not sure if grimace is working right (might be a balance change the card text doesn't show?).

    In fact anythign that puts tokens on the opponents board (grimace/Band of heroes) seems to be off?

    Other:
    Love the new artwork. Not sure how much i'd seen before but it's all great. (ball and chain is exceptionally breathtaking)

    All the new monsters really help add variety to strategy and gameflow. I love the ideas, especially the "not angry" clause, as that ads sooo much potential to the game (and should probably be a keyword....passive? Asleep? Maybe ambushed, as its the act of getting them while not angry?)

    Hmm interesting I'd wanted to try Rising Thunder so that's cool it's back. I had thought that the LoL guys bought that company so they could make their own fighting game? Or did they just want to use their team? Idk. I really like Fantasy Strike though so that kinda fills that niche for me at the moment.

    Yeah you'll find it's a lot easier to do crazy high damage stuff in the new version, and the monster deck is overall a bit weaker. So players will be damaging each other and stuff like that a lot more, which is why I raised the life total. However if your deck is econ-heavy, you're going to be missing out on all the bonuses you get for killing non-angry monsters, so that should balance it out. I'm going to change the monster deck over time, and there will be more triggers for killing non-angry monsters. It seems to be a really fun mechanic, and makes focusing on monster killing more fun because you're not just staying alive, you're getting free stuff.

    It sounds like the bug you saw might have been a bug related to Fathom. I'm not sure, but several times I've seen Fathom create phantom cards. All the doubling effects have been really difficult to get working right. It could be something else though so I'll keep an eye out for it with Blackout and Titan Armor.

    Yeah Brotweird's Grimace just deals 1 damage to the opponent now instead of making a Demonspawn. I was originally testing these cards for a new physical version, and the fiddliness of moving the Demonspawn around didn't seem worth it when dealing 1 damage is almost the same thing. Maybe I'll change it back since the fiddliness doesn't matter in the app, not sure.

    Band of Heroes isn't working right. I switched it on right before I uploaded the release without testing, and I didn't know that I had changed it. It seems like I changed it at some point so that it requires you to already have a Defender in play to play it, and it doesn't create a token for the opponent. Totally didn't remember changing that, must have been some thing I was testing.

    I changed Ballista back to 3 monsters but forgot to change the patch notes. So the current version and image is actually correct. I figured 6 damage for 2 energy was good enough.

    Yeah when your hand is full the cards should probably spread out more, it's something I haven't messed with in a really long time.

    Yeah the new art is great, the fantasy art stock photos are much, much, much better than the ones available in 2012 haha. 8)

    Thanks for the feedback! I'd like to get this on Steam but I need to make it more legit first. Haha.

    Riot did buy the team and they are supposedly doing "something" which there's basically been 0 news on since the purchase other than arc system works visiting riot HQ (Blazblue/Guilty Gear/New DBZ fighter guys).

    Then out of the blue last month the RT team said that they're still working on riot stuff, but since the community had spent so much time trying to get the game to work (functioning training mode, trying to reverse engineer the networking stuff), they were going to release a community edition sometime this month (few bug fixes, local play, a little polish here and there). Basically nothing new and it won't be supported into the future, but it will be a working game which is more than anyone hoped.

    i was messing around with band of brothers with iron armor on it, and then played labyrinth (didn't get the bonus, but not sure if i should have. WITH cost of labyrinth included i had enough points exactly). After that I couldn't select any of the cards in my hand, but could attack with my defenders.

    Decided to just X back to the main menu, triggered the bug.

    Edit-

    Bonus points, after reporting the bug I went to open up the game anew and it took FOREVER to launch (maybe 30 seconds+?)

    Maybe Bug-
    I have apocalypse. My opponent plays ball and chain. I start the turn with 3 energy.

    Cool thanks I'll look into those bugs. Hopefully I can get a new version out soon. Probably just going to have to remove Band of Heroes for a minute because it seems like it's not set up correctly at all right now.

    More bug stuff (let me know if this isn't helpful and I can stop blowing up the topic with it, or maybe a separate topic)

    Bugs:

    1. Werewolf with a giant club seems to be unable to double attack regardless of if you discard or not. Also seems like you cannot trigger the option to discard sometimes at all (i think its because your attack will kill the target, like a hellhound)

    2. AI attacks in generally seem really hit or miss. Opponent played memory beam while i had club on werewolf, and yet I still had it next turn (and i had 0 eligible targets outside of that).

    Other:

    Can I get a complete card list of whats in the digital version? I made that tier list eons ago and figured it wouldn't hurt to knock something up again for people just finding the game (or maybe some basic combos to look for and try out)

    Hey man sorry for the delay in responding, this is a great thread to talk about bugs and stuff, I don't think there is going to be a lot of activity so anything that gets people talking on here is great. I'll add Werewolf with giant club to the bug list. I just remembered that Memory Beam doesn't work on Equipment in the app, I need to go back and fix that at some point. I skipped adding it right away because of the way equipment works but looking back it shouldn't be super hard to fix...

    Here is the card list. I've tried to make them all pretty balanced, though I'm pretty sure that Rolling Thunder is busted overpowered right now. Right now I'd say the cards are on a way more even power level than the physical game (though this works fine in the physical game in some ways, since it is a draft after all.) And I'm about to go out of town but hopefully I can start fixing some stuff in a week or two.:
